Nose: I've only just opened the bottle, but I already know: this is a real blast. B1/20 - B1/22 each needed some time in the glass to be able to develop their full potential, B1/23 is right there with the gun and supplies the nose with a full load of fruit first, so that there are no doubts about where they are going journey goes. Fresh figs, apricots and peaches - and then there are actually quite effortless mango, passion fruit, guava and banana, so that the nose is literally surrounded by fruit aromas. As concrete as the fruits are, the Pot Still spices are just as subtle. A little thyme and rosemary, curry and cinnamon, but very reserved. Marzipan bread, toffee, almond chocolate.
Palate: A wonderfully creamy, almost soft start. Very fruity and therefore reflects the development of Redbreast over the years. Away from the heavy, oily SPS, towards the fruity and spicy. Mango, passion fruit, peach, apricot, papaya, guava, banana, dragonfruit. Forgot something about tropical fruits? The fruit flavors it conveys to the tongue are pretty amazing; I only find that with Redbreast 20+. Marjoram, thyme, curry spice, cardamom, cinnamon. Coffee with milk, caramel, some vanilla.
Finish: Long and still creamy. The fruit flavors are quite persistent and only fade away very slowly, marjoram and chervil on milk chocolate, café au lait, toffee.
