Nose: Light camphor, peat smoke, some lanolin, wet matches, mineral notes, granite, grapefruit, light acetone, vanilla. Very enjoyable.
Palate: Wow. Amazing right from the start. I think this is the best Laphroaig that I ever tasted. Really well made. Alcohol level is just perfect, it's warm, there's a bit of black pepper, but nothing is too much. Decent amount of sweetness against the smoke and camphor notes. It's fruity as well, and there are just tiny notes of oak against the barley. Second chew is really filling, the texture and structure of this dram is marvellous. More sweetness, a bit of ginger and minty stuff developing, more smoke, a little bit of grapefruit freshness, a hint of ripe melon and pear, quite a bit of minerality also. Fantastic balance. Third chew is a little bit fuller, there are caramel notes, creamy sweetness, thick and filling smoke. I want more.
Finish: Thick peat smoke, caramel sweetness, light ginger, cappucino, melon, pear, just marvellous. Lasts for ages.
