Nose: Yes, you immediately notice the sherry barrels, although you don't necessarily know that they are PX sherry. Dried figs, prunes, raisins, blueberries. Below that is a layer of marzipan mixture, dried meadow herbs and thyme. The peat smoke note seems warm and is not intrusive.
Palate: It has a very dry start, it feels like you're chewing oak chips on a shovel. Raisin bread, dried plums, grapes, occasional cherry flavor. If there wasn't a mixture of bitter herbs present, I would be having an Amaretto with the light cherry flavor and the nut-marzipan aroma that is now emerging. Cold smoke, giving a metallic feeling on the tongue. seaweed, salt and pepper.
Finish: Very bitter and dry finish, the dried fruits are only a distant hint, dry wood and cold smoke have the shared command, the metallic note gives the first officer.
