Nose: Dark, vintage Sherry oak. At first, I was greeted with worn leather, cooled caramel, dates, dark chocolate, and toasted oak. As I progress forward, cedar wood, nutty granola, and dark treacle. At the base, it’s a return of the Campbeltown influence, coastal, dunnage warehouse, almost funky.
Palate: Rich but not syrupy. So balance I can only describe this as my baseline of authentic Sherry cask influence. Coffee beans. Apples covered by a layer of fudge. Slightly burnt caramel.
Finish: Medium, moderately dry finish. A touch of rum-soaked raisin and toffee lingering, now I’ve to make myself some rum raisin ice cream!
